Though it was their free will to go against their families for each other.
At the balcony scene they were saying that they would do anything to be with each even though know that they were enemies. “O Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo? Deny thy father and refuse thy name; or if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love and I’ll no longer be a Capulet. ” She would give up being a Capulet and would go against her family for him. And he knows she a Capulet “Is she a Capulet? O dear account! My life is my foe’s debt”. And yet he still goes to her balcony to see her even though she is his foe.
It was also their free will to kill themselves because they could not be with each other. After Balthasar goes and tells Romeo of Juliet death because he didn’t know it was fake Romeo rushes out of Mantua back to Verona, but first stopping at an apothecary to get poison so he can die along Juliet’s side. “And, lips, O, you the doors of breath, seal with a righteous kiss a dateless bargain to engrossing death. ” Then she kills herself because he kills himself. “What here?
A cup closed in my true love’s hand? Poison, I see, hath been his timeless end. O churl, drunk all, and left no friendly drop to help me after! I will kiss thy lips. Haply some poison yet doth hang on them, to make me die with restorative….. Yea, noise? Then I’ll be brief. O, happy dagger, this is thy sheath. There rust, and let me die. ” They both kill themselves and that was their choice to kill themselves because their love died. The story of Romeo and Juliet was based on the fate and free will.
If their families hadn’t hate each other they wouldn’t have met and wouldn’t have to go through those hardships. Though on the other hand it was the way they dealt with those hardship that made their death bed. Romeo choose to kill Tybalt instead of letting justice take its path which led to him to being banished and Capulet rushing up the wedding between Paris and Juliet. This then led to Juliet’s fake death, Then Romeo killing himself, and Juliet killing herself in return. And both fate and free will played a part in Romeo and Juliet’s demise.
