Thisstatement suggests that people tend to lean on meat for protein source, butwhat if there’s an alternative option that is more nutritious and lessexpensive? This alternative optioncomes from the idea of vegan/plant-based meat.
According to an articlepublished by (Parsons 2017) entitled 10 Vegetables That Can Substitute forMeat, Tofu is thenumber one replacement for meat. Tofu or bean curd is made from soya. It isrich in protein and a great source of amino acids, iron, calcium and othermicro-nutrients. The meat-basedfood product that we chose to substitute tofu with is burger patty. Burgers arewidely regarded as a favorite in terms of meat products. It is consisted ofground meat, vegetables and condiments that is served on a bun.
It is rich inprotein but a great contributor to weight gain that leads to an unhealthylifestyle. It can cause harmful effects like high blood pressure, diabetes andeven stress. Burger patties are also a misuse of livestock which is hard toobtain nowadays. The possible solution we’vecome up with is to replace the meat in burgers with tofu which is morenutritious and more affordable compared to meat. Objectivesof the StudyThrough the various readingsof related literature and related studies, the researchers came up with thefollowing objectives of the study:1.
Findout if tofu can be used to replace burger patties2. Makea product that closely resembles a burger patty3.
