The reason knowledge of “good and evil” should be forbidden to Adam and Eve was to help the world that god created keep its “balance”. When god created the world, everything was blissfully perfect until Adam and Eve ate from the tree of life. By doing so, they had opened up a portal full of problems and later shunned human beings, which created the wrong doers from the earth. Before they ate, they had no knowledge of evil, only good.
After they ate, they knew of evil. It is disobeying God. They knew evil because they were evil. The knowledge of good and evil should be forbidden because it caused chaos to the world. If god had created a perfect world and by eating the forbidden fruit the world could no longer be balanced and that was why evil was then created.
If the humans did not know of right and wrong or in this case good and evil, they would not do anything out of god’s jurisdiction and thus be perfect in everyway. To Adam and Eve god was the ruler and the creator of the universe so the edict’s of god’s significance was truly profound. By knowing that they had to obey certain laws and orders was the role that they played in universe. In order to keep the universe in order, they had to keep the peace with god’s words and their own. When they ate the fruit from the tree of life, they knew that they had to repent for they have mistaken.
They had realized that they had violated an order that he had asked and that they were no longer “perfect” in god’s eyes. When they had realized that they were no longer perfect they were shunned to become humans and then go out into flawed. This created the unbalance in the world and is what kept Adam and Eve from truly being satisfied with one’s self.
By eating from the tree of life, Adam and Eve had gained knowledge. Would it be too risky for human beings to have is an absolute underestimation. By having knowledge a person can then start to question his/her own surroundin.
