George was the caretaker for his mentally challenged best friend Lennie. George was a heroic character because he took care of Lennie, never gave up on him, and protected him. Being a caretakeris a huge sacrifice.
George sacrificed the life he could of had to take care of Lennie. George took Lennie in when his Aunt died. They traveled together, got in trouble together, and just did everything together. Whether it was Lennie accidentally killing things or constantly asking for ketchup. It’s hard to stay that patient for someone. Everyone wants to protect their family from danger at all times. George and Lennie weren’t related in any way, however they had a strong brotherly bond. George protected whenever he could. George is small and couldn’t really physically help in the fight between Curley and Lennie.
He did help by telling Lennie what to do. Lennie ended up breaking Curley’s hand. Later in the story, Curley was hunting Lennie down after Lennie accidentally killed curler’s Wife.
