?In a globalizing world, being able to communicate with people from other countries is more important than ever, and English just happens to be the most widely spoken language in the world. My life has changed since I learned English. I started to study English since elementary school, but my English had improved when I came to the US.
Even though learning English gives me a lot of benefits, it also hinders what I adjust to the life in the US in many ways. English gives me the best chance to understand and speak with people in the US. Being able to speak English allows me to communicate effectively in this country, I discover new cultures through English. Almost everywhere I go, I can encounter English: English music, television, movies, news, etc. This is because of the huge influence that American and British culture have all over the world. Learning English opens up lots of possibilities for me. For example, I had a hard time in the US at the first year because I couldn’t understand and speak English. Besides, I could not find any job because I couldn’t use English fluently.
Many employers are likely to require proficiency in English before they will consider employing you. This means that if I can speak English, I’ll have a greater number of possible careers to choose after I finish at the University. Moreover, getting close to English helped me in my education. I know that If I want to study at the university in this country, I should be proficient in speaking, reading, and writing.
And I also will be able to read and understand the great work in literature related to my study which written in English. Furthermore, speaking English helped me meet all kinds of people and make great friends. As you can see this knowledge helped me communicate better with both friends and teachers.
