Management recommendations:

Remember to prove your suggestions with theories and models from our text readings. Recall that this is a hypothetical scenario and you are a manager at Riordan. As such, composition should reflect third-person objective view. Do not write in first person (I, we) or second person (you) view.

All concepts must have proper in-text citation including page # and a full citation in the reference list on the following page.

The Riordan organization has implemented a self-assessment program for the management staff to improve the effectiveness of the company. The most important thing managers can do to raise employee satisfaction is focus on the intrinsic parts of the job, such as making the work challenging and interesting (Robbins & Judge, 2011, pg. 89).The self assessment includes information on job satisfaction, satisfied with your job, emotional state, emotions affecting them, skills and competencies and decision making. It identifies skills and abilities and interest for each employee. Research in job design suggests the way the elements in a job are organized can act to increase or decrease effort and also suggests what those elements are (Robbins & Judge, 2011, pg. 242).

The self assessment chosen for the employee portfolio were ???how satisfied with my job??? ???am I engaged???, ???how are you feeling right now???, ???what??™s my affect intensity???, ???what??™s my emotional intelligence score???, and ???am I a deliberate decision maker.??? Managers should be interested in their employees??™ attitudes because attitudes give warnings of potential problems and influence behavior (Robbins & Judge, 2011, pg. 89). The employees chosen to participate in the self assessment were Emjay Johnson, Robyn Whiteside, and Ashley Suggs. After receiving the results for each employee the manager has to assess his or her strengths and weaknesses. Discover the positive and negative characteristics of each employee toward his or her performance of the organization. Management will make the appropriated recommendation for additional assessment.
Emjay showed strengths in staying busy during work hours. He is very persistent. He has very good social skills. He gets more done while working alone. He does well in other roles in his department. He is satisfied with his pay and driven by the job advancement option provided by this company. His display skills needed to cope with job pressure and demands. He is decisive and emotional stability. Emjay strengths could be a great assess to the company by experiencing job satisfaction benefitting from the low turnover rate. Emjay showed weaknesses in the way management handle their problems. He has a problem with the way the policies and practices are being displayed. He feels as if management does not praise the employee. He also does not display empathy at work. Emjay weaknesses can cause problems with the chain of command or the effective of getting things done. This will cause the company time and money if the task is incomplete.

Ashley showed strengths with coming to work each day on time. She enjoys working for this organization. She is very persistent. She will be a great assess to the company. She is a team player and shows great leadership skills. She display skills needed to cope with job pressure and demands. She also shows empathy for her coworkers. She is decisive and emotional stability. Ashley strengths could be a great assess to the company by showing time management and reducing the high turnover rate. Ashley showed weaknesses when working alone. She needs worked on self-motivation. She also shows low self-awareness in her behavior. Ashley weaknesses can cause a stressful work environment.

Robyn showed strengths in staying busy during work hours. She gets more done when working alone. She is a team player in her department. She has very good social skills. She does well in other departments. She demonstrates some self management skills. She shows empathy toward her coworkers. She also likes the steady work this organization offer. He is decisive and emotional stability. Robyn strengths could be a great assess to the company with her great leadership skill but her motivation with this company needs work. Robyn showed weaknesses in low self- awareness and motivational skill. She has displaced high levels of absenteeism. She has problems with management and the policies in place. Robyn weaknesses can cause the company time and money.

To gain more knowledge about these employee personality traits the addition self assessments has been recommended for each of these employees. Emjay Johnson is recommended to take What my attitude toward working in a group To find out how well he can be an effective in a group. Am I an ethical leader To see if he can displays ethical leadership. Ashley Suggs is recommended to take How willing am I to delegate To find out how well she knows how to delegate responsible to her coworkers. How creative am I To find out how well she can come up with unique ways to solve problems around the organization. Robyn Whiteside is recommended to take What motivates me To find the best plan to enhance her motivation at work. How good are my listening skills To test how well she uses her listening skills. Based on the results obtain from these assessment will allow the management staff to develop plans to encourage and motivate employee to the right direction for the success of this organization.
