I believe that I exceed the expectations required to belong to NHS. I have completed more than enough service hours and contributed greatly to the community. As a coach of a Shelby Township recreational basketball team, I displayed the leadership necessary to lead the team to the semifinals. I have excelled in all of my classes, even the AP and AC classes. I am on a lot of clubs and athletic teams, which makes me involved in school a lot. I??™m the kind of person that would make a great candidate for NHS.
I have contributed greatly to the community of Shelby Township. I love sports and I decided to serve for the Shelby Lions football clubs. On game days I worked the concession stands, cleaned up the trash all around the field, and served as the water boy for some of the squads. I also was a coach for a Shelby recreational basketball team. We played our games at the Boys and Girls club and at junior highs across the district. We also had a practice or two each week. Giving back to the community is one of the things I like to do, especially if it involves sports.
Whether it was on the field playing or on the bench coaching I displayed a great deal of leadership. For the Eisenhower Varsity football team, I was one of the captains of our practice squad offense. I made sure that everyone was giving 110% on every play and everyone knew what they were doing. With the help of other leaders on the team, I made sure that we gave a good look to the defense to make sure they were ready for the game. On the court, I made sure my team was prepared to play with everything they had. I accepted the responsibility that most of the players, if not all of them, were looking up to me for advice not only on basketball, but life in general. In school I also demonstrated leadership in my Chemistry class. I was the leader of our cluster, making sure everyone was on task and turning things in on time. I am the kind of person that will not follow, but lead others and myself.
I am not only a leader, but also a great person in general. I do not believe in cheating and think that??™s it only an excuse for not trying hard enough. As a freshman, I won the award as ???nicest person??? in my Spanish class. I am known as the person that anyone can talk to without feeling stupid or down about he or herself. I always like to meet knew people and if I see someone eating lunch alone, I??™ll invite them over to my table. In tenth grade we did a social experiment called ???Mix it up Day???. I was one of few people to follow the rules and try to step out of my comfort zone to try to make a new friend or two. I also have never received an ???N??? or a ???U??? on a progress report or a report card and won Mustang of the Month as a freshman. As a person, I try to treat others the way I would want to be treated and respect every person I meet in life.
Aside from being polite and respectful, I also do well in school. I have a 3.66 GPA and am currently taking three accelerated classes. I am in Spanish IV and in the Spanish club as well. As a freshman I received the Presidents Award for maintaining an ???A??? average all through middle school. I have done very well on all of the Michigan Standardized tests and have been recognized for it as well. I also have a great work ethic when it comes to tests and homework. I study hard for all of my tests and often attend extra help sessions to make sure I fully understand it all. I have received letters form many colleges that include Michigan State, Western Michigan, Central Michigan, and Miami of Ohio. I keep up with my academics and no how to manage my friends life with my school life. I am a great student in the classroom and try hard at every thing I do academically.
I am a demonstrator of leadership, a giver back to the community, a polite and respectful man, as well as an excellent student. There is no doubt in my mind that I should be accepted to the National Honors Society. I have all the skills necessary to become a member of NHS. If accepted it will only make me try harder in school to represent family and myself as a great member of the community. From a student, to a coach, to a player on the field I represent everything that is required to become a member of the National Honors Society.
